Our Story

  • OUR VISION

We believe in a world where no child ever has to live on the streets.

  • OUR MISSION

To create and enable sustainable change for children living alone and at risk on the street.

SAFE ECOSYSTEM FOR CHILDREN

Hundreds of thousands of children alone and at-risk pass through transport terminals as they try to escape conflict, abuse, poverty and trauma. For many, public transport represents opportunity and the chance of a new start but the dangers they end up facing can be far worse than the problems they left behind.

It can also make the ideal hunting ground for predators, gangs and criminals seeking to exploit and abuse vulnerable children. Reaching out to these children as early as possible while they are in a moving train or after they arrive at a bus or railway station is crucial for their protection, restoration and rehabilitation. We aim to prevent children from slipping into a life on the street and suffering all of the harm and abuse we know that this can bring.

Our Milestones

In 2023, we turned 10.

We began with the belief that no child must ever live on the streets, and we changed that into our mission. We are proud to have built 100+ child-friendly railway stations across India and reached 1000's of children back home safely.

We won’t stop until every child is safe and happy.

Railway Children India has had an invaluable contribution in conducting child protection and safeguarding sessions for 750+ teachers across Delhi MCD schools. The in-person child protection and safeguarding sessions were tailored to the unique context of Delhi MCD schools and demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges faced by our educators. The practical insights, case studies, and interactive components of the trainings allowed teachers to grasp the nuances of child protection effectively. This, in turn, has empowered them to implement preventive measures and respond appropriately to safeguard the welfare of our students.

Working with Railway Children India has been a pleasure. Over the years, we have collaborated on a number of projects to raise funds to strengthen their scale up across railway stations and communities across India. The organization is outcome driven, and we are happy to have handed over a Gold Certification to them this year. We look forward to supporting the work of RCI in the years to come, and help protect vulnerable children across the country.
